Cowboy Beans

These are the best baked beans! When we have a fish fry or cookout, like we are today, I leave out the hamburger meat. Those of you that know me, know that I hate onions! I always use onion powder instead. I would recommend sautéing the onions in a little bit of the bacon grease if you are making this for a side dish & omitting the hamburger.

Baked Beans

10 slices bacon, browned & drained                             2 tablespoons molasses

1/2 to 1 lb. hamburger                                                            1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup onion                                                                       1/2 teaspoon chili powder

1/3 cup brown sugar, packed                                          1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/3 cup sugar                                                                       2 tablespoons mustard

1/4 cup ketchup                                                                  3 – 16 oz. cans pork & beans

1/4 cup barbeque sauce

  1. Brown hamburger and onion; drain. Combine with remaining ingredients.
  2. Pour into baking dish. I like to use stoneware for this recipe.
  3. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
