Recipe for Homemade Restaurant Style Refried Beans
- 1/2 pound dry pinto beans
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Sort & rinse beans.
- Place beans in heavy pot. Add about 6 cups of water & all of the seasoning.
- Bring to a boil on high. Reduce heat to low.
- Cook, covered, for 3-5 hours until beans are easily mashed with a fork. Add water as needed.
- Mash beans with a potato masher or pulse in a food processor to desired consistency.
