Peach season is definitely a highlight of summer & an old-fashioned peach cobbler hits the spot!
Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced ripe peaches
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- cinnamon sugar
- vanilla ice cream (optional)
- whipped cream (optional)
Step 1
Stir together peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, & salt in a large saucepan. Heat over medium heat until it starts to bubble. Remove from heat.
Step 2
While the peaches are heating, turn oven to 350 degrees.
Place stick of butter in a 9×13 pan & place in oven. (If the butter is cold, cut into 8 pieces. If it is room temperature, you can cut it or leave it whole.) As the oven heats up, the butter will melt.
Remove pan from oven once the butter has melted.
Step 3
While the butter melts, stir 1 cup sugar & flour together. Add milk & stir just until blended. There may be small lumps.
When the pan of melted butter is out of the oven, pour the flour mixture into the pan & spread evenly.
Step 4
Spoon peaches & the juice from the saucepan evenly over the flour & butter.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over peaches.
Step 5
Return pan to oven & bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden & bubbly.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
