M&M Sugar Cookie Cake

Add to your holiday celebrations with this delicious sugar cookie cake! The cookie in the picture is obviously for a 4th of July Independence Day celebration, but you can make it for any holiday or season by simply choosing a different color palette of M&Ms!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup red white and blue m&ms
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

For the Buttercream Frosting:

  • 6 TBS butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 TBS milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray a 12″ round or 9″x13″ oblong pan with non stick spray. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl mix together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside.
  4. Cream together butter & sugar in a large bowl.
  5. Add in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla.
  6. Add dry ingredients to bowl & combine.
  7. Add in M&Ms & white chocolate chips. Fold into dough.
  8. Press the cookie dough into the prepared pan.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes until the cookie is golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for 20 minutes in the pan. Loosen the sides with a knife and put cake onto a platter or serving dish.
  11. Cool completely before decorating.

For the Buttercream Frosting:

  1. Cream butter & powdered sugar together.
  2. Add in the salt, vanilla, & milk. Beat until smooth, then beat on high for 3 minutes..
  3. Put frosting into a piping bag with a Wilton #32 tip, if you have one.
  4. Decorate cookie edges with frosting.
  5. Top with sprinkles, if desired.
  6. Slice and serve.
